User Provisioning
What is User Provisioning?
Provisioning, also called user provisioning or account provisioning, involves the creating, modifying, disabling, and deleting of user accounts and their profiles across an organization’s infrastructure.
Why is User Provisioning important?
User provisioning is an identity management process where user accounts are created, managed by changing permissions or identity attributes, or revoked due to a change in the user’s status, such as an employee leaving. Provisioning is a vital process for the IT department. If not performed efficiently, it can be a bottleneck for people as they wait for their accounts to be created or modified, impacting their productivity. From an organizational perspective, unused accounts represent a security risk and should be revoked as soon as possible.
